Foreign Policy Initiative to Host Conference on Path to Success in Afghanistan
WASHINGTON – The Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) will host a half-day conference on
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. to discuss how the United States and its allies can
succeed in Afghanistan. Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Representative Jane Harman (D-CA),
and Representative John McHugh (R-NY) will deliver remarks. The conference agenda is
available at www.foreignpolicyi.org/event.php.
In advance of the NATO summit in Strasbourg-Kehl and on the same day as the international
conference on Afghanistan in The Hague, this conference will offer a unique opportunity to
reflect on recent developments and examine the situation in Afghanistan as the Obama
Administration begins to implement its new Afghanistan strategy.
The conference will also feature insights from leading policy analysts. Panel discussions include
Internationalism vs. Isolationism, The Way Ahead, View from the House, and A Conversation
with Senator John McCain.
