FPI Podcast: Interview with Shin Dong-hyuk

The Foreign Policy Initiative interviewed North Korean dissident Shin Dong-hyuk on his recent visit to the United States. Shin was born in North Korea’s infamous Camp 14—which is estimated to house approximately 200,000 people—but escaped at the age of 23. He is the only person known to have escaped the camp. Today Shin works to bring awareness to the existence of North Korea’s political prison camps and believes that America can play a key role in shaping the future of the Korean Peninsula.
