Foreign Policy Initiative Suggested Reading on Post-Qaddafi Libya
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) is monitoring reaction to the reported death of former Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi.
FPI was among the first to call for U.S. military involvement in Libya, organizing open letters to President Obama on February 25, 2011, and March 15, 2011. President Obama directed U.S. military forces to assist the international operation in Libya on March 19, 2011, with the aim of preventing a humanitarian catastrophe and addressing the threat posed to international peace and security by the Libyan crisis.
The following op-eds, editorials, and analyses may be helpful in understanding the next phase of the democratic revolution in post-Qaddafi Libya, and the implications of this event for the Arab Spring.
